Faded Feathers - aiming to supply donated Birthday Cards to Respite Centres for Alzheimer's/Dementia clients to give to Carers
As most of you will know my husband John suffers from Alzheimer's and is now classed as High Care. He attends a Respite Centre 3 days a week. Over the course of a year there are approx 90 clients attending his particular centre. One thing each of these attendees have in common is that they each have a personal carer - usually a husband or wife, a son or a daughter. One thing these carers all have in common - they each have a birthday each year. Now I have seen how upset my husband is when he thinks he has missed my birthday. Even taking him to the newsagent to buy a card for him to give me is confronting for him as he no longer understands what may or may not be appropriate. It is my intention to help those Alzheimer's/ Dementia clients in Respite Centres give back to their carers by providing Birthday Cards at the Centres.
So how can you help? I need donated cards. They can be bought, handmade or revamped cards complete with envelops, for males and females. If you know of another centre that would like to participate please let me know. I can be contacted by email at this address or at
If you know of anyone who would like to help then please feel free to pass this on
